X-Men's Beast Joins Human Torch in Soule & McNiven's "Uncanny Inhumans"
When the Marvel Universe emerges from the other side of its current "Secret Wars" event, the Inhumans will remain a major focus for the publisher, as their presence on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." drives the ABC show's next season, paving the way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Inhumans" film in 2019.
Announced today on Mashable, Charles Soule andSteve McNiven continue to grow the royal family of Attilan's comic book footprint with "Uncanny Inhumans." And while the Free Comic Book Day story already revealed that Johhny Storm, better known as the Human Torch, will be a member of the group, today's announcement added another character to the title: X-Man/Avenger Hank McCoy, aka the Beast. The two will join the estranged Black Bolt and Medusa as they search Marvel U for their missing son.
"'Uncanny' was first associated with the Inhumans," Soule explained to Mashable of the series' title. "Not everybody knows that, because it wasn’t the huge explosion with X-Men at first … it means, and I think it fits the Inhumans better anyway, 'strange and mysterious.' It just means, 'This is a big deal, Marvel readers.
"It’s this awesome, swirling superhero story that has a lot of things going on -- and is a blast"
The series, which, like the rest of Marvel's "All-New, All-Different" relaunches, take place 8 months after the end of "Secret Wars," arrives in late 2015.
