How can the X-Men catch an enemy who can be anywhere they aren’t? Trouble appears when the Vanisher’s on the loose!

THE RUNDOWN!!!!

Professor Xavier interrupts the X-Men's latest training session to inform them that he has mentally detected a new mutant nearby. The X-Men find the mutant known as the Blob working at a carnival. They invite the Blob into the school so that Professor Xavier can test his powers. Afterwards Professor Xavier invites the Blob to join the X-Men, but he refuses. In an attempt to maintain the X-Men's secret identities, Professor Xavier tries to mind-wipe the Blob, but he is able to escape.

Later the Blob returns with the other carnival people and begin to attack the school. The X-Men are able to hold off the carnival people long enough for Professor Xavier to use a thought intensifier to erase the carnival people's memories.

WHAT I LEARNED THIS WEEK!!

1) The X-Men start acting more like the X-Men we know. Beast instead of molesting Jean and acting like the typical jock, begins to act more refined and educated 2) Cyclops is referred to as Scott for the first time 3) Jean seems to like Scott and Scott likes Jean but he will never her tell her because he thinks no one could love someone like him.

4) in what is probably the #1 Top of the list things that is good that

Marvel dropped from this story is Charles Xavier's professed secret love of Jean Grey (see image) 5) Xavier and his X-Men seem more like villians in this issue attacking the Blob because he does not want to join the X-Men, the rest of the issue is spent with Xavier trying to wipe his mind so he cannot reveal the X-Men's secrets. Once again this is a darker Xavier than we are used to.
